What goes around comes around.

Animal Cruelty is unacceptable, and somehow we see it all around us.  Factory farms, abuse, cruelty, murder, people being unable to care for their pets, people not giving the time and energy to the pets they ARE able to take care of,  animals in captivity....Everywhere we seem to look, there they are.  I try to keep up on a lot of the animal rights causes going on, but there are so many.  It's one of those things that truly breaks my heart, but I refuse to let that stop learning about the problems we as a whole community face.

I first read about Conklin Dairy Farm on thekindlife.com and my heart is still so completely broken because justice hasn't been served.  The Animal Cruelty laws in most states are very easy to work around.  The owner who you actually see in  this video (warning: this video is extremely graphic. ) has not even been prosecuted, even though one of his employees have been charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty (which translates to a $750 fine and 90 days in jail).  While I am happy that something good happened, it leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth.  Why isn't the man in charge being held accountable and how is this all the employee is being faced with?  These poor animals have no voice, and I can't help but tear up while I write this.  Why have we forgotten a sense of connection to these beautiful creatures and why do we feel helpless against it? When did we just start accepting what we know isn't right?

Please sign this petition to shut down the farm and have the owner, Gary Conklin prosecuted. Have a voice for those who don't.

You can also read Jamie Lee Curtis' (the Spokesperson of Dannon Activia who uses milk from Conklin Dairy Farms) open letter here.
