So, I like to consider myself a health enthusiast. I take supplements, eat lots & lots of whole foods with super amazing nurturing powers, and try to keep up with new great products...so what's up people of Sac? You trying to show me up?!
Working in a wellness department can be a little...interesting. First off, I am not a doctor, so PLEASE do not ask me one more time about what will help with your constant constipation only on Tuesdays. I'm not prescribing anything to you, so when I help you as much as I am legally able to, don't get furious. Number two, Dr. Oz has obviously become God. He says, "Go buy this, you need it." and people come in swarms, bunches, herds, teams, packs to grab this hot new item that obviously is what will fix them.
Other than the crazies (which I actually do enjoy meeting and helping as well, regardless of what I say) I am really loving my beautiful new job. I am learning so much and Sac Co-op really does a lot of great things for the community. One huge endeavor they've taken on is One Farm at a Time. It's really great to be a part of something that really is striving for big change. Jeff and Annie's story at Good Humus is inspiring and wonderful, you should take a moment to read their story and what One Farm at a Time is trying to do.
I am loving Sac more and more. The local food scene is HUGE out here, and I am really excited to dive in. As for cooking, it's been low budget cookin in this girls kitchen, but here are some of the goodies:
Monkey Oats, my very favorite go-to breakfast! I love oatmeal as a beginning meal for the day, and this makes it way less boring.
Put 1/2 C Oats, handful of berries/fruit of your choice, 1/3 C Raisins, 1 Tbsp Almond butter (or PB as sub), and half a mashed banana. Add boiling water to your preference. Stir all the goodies together until creamy.
I am aware this looks a little...sketchy. But oh my food goddess, it's so creamy and marvelous!! Here's the recipe.
Breakfast Oatmeal Bake inspired by Fat Free Vegan blogger, Susan. Her recipes are to die for, but without the guilt some of us suffer once in a while after a whole cake is devoured and we say, "At least it's vegan...."
One thing I do love is a good picnic in the park. We've been enjoying this warm breezy spring weather with night walks through the capitol rose garden, and day strolls to picnic in the park. Today I made VegWeb hummus and Green Bites blogger, Michelle's egg(less) salad wraps. Yum!
