I don't think I have heard one person object to a little change in season now that Fall is here. I'm sure those people are out there, probably somewhere exotic where they drink Sangria all day by the clear blue ocean and Fall to them only means less sunshine to sunbathe their tan little buns in. Okay, so maybe I am a little bitter that this Summer, I spent my time soaking up my Vitamin D through a capsule instead of through my beautifully sunkissed skin. Maybe I am a little sad that the little cafe across from Ocean Beach doesn't know my name anymore, or remember how I like my latte'. While I am still dealing with my priorities shifting from cleaning sand out of every crevice of my body to boring adulthood, I know that a change in season is good for a lot of things.
One, you get a sense of self awareness. Every season, I find myself ready for growth, and to shed my old skin ( Just so we're clear, that was metaphorical, I don't really shed my skin like a reptile. My OCD boyfriend would kick me to the curb if I picked that habit up.) I feel refreshed and new and ready to take on a new seasonal change in my life.
Two, you've got all the fall produce coming, which happens to be my very favorite. Hello you, sweet punkin streusel, you!
And last but not least, number three: You get to go celebrate a beautiful Autumn Equinox festival that our Sacramento- based Soil Born Farms throws. So many great local businesses and restaurants came out to support, and let me tell you they did not disappoint. While some of the food wasn't herbivore friendly, restaurants like Sugar Plum Vegan, Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, One Speed Pizza, Hot Italian, and many others were there rockin' everyone's pallet. With fresh local food, great music, fabulous friends, and the wine a-flowin'....what more could a girl need to take away those end of summer blues and welcome Autumn in with open arms.
I can't really think of anything that would make that better. Happy Fall!
